In the U.S soccer is different than compared to soccer in Europe. In the U.S. for like a kid to join a club they need to pay. The price the kids would need to pay can range from $2,600 to $5,000. In Europe the academy players get paid to play. In Europe they care about the youth and they develop their players. In the U.S they care about the money and business there are a lot of good players in the U.S that are not playing professionally because they can't afford to pay to join the club.
